His first career ATP doubles title was captured in San Jose in February 2007 (w/Butorac) as Andy claimed the singles title. This feat meant these two Scots were the first brothers duo to win singles and doubles titles in same tournament since 1989. Jamie followed this success with a win in Memphis lifting him into the top 50 in the ATP doubles rankings for the first time.
In February 2007 Murray received his first call-up to the Great Britain Davis Cup team. By June he had become the first British winner at Wimbledon in 20 years when he claimed the Wimbledon Mixed Doubles title alongside Jelena Jankovic, He upheld this blistering form and in August reached the doubles semi-final with Liezel Huber, at the US Open. Outstanding results such as these have allowed Jamie to climb an amazing 45 ranking points in 2007 and have made certain that he is a player to watch for the future. |
